Better Movers and Thinkers
This term in P.E with Mrs Drever, we are developing our moving and thinking skills. Today we worked with a partner to develop our coordination and movement skills. We walked in sync and added in more difficult moves, it certainly made us think! We all enjoyed this session today.

Orkney during World War 2
We continued our world war topic today where we were learning about war sites in Orkney. We worked together in our pairs to map each war time site. We then developed our research skills and learned about the different sites.
Well done cyclists!
Last term, some of us completed our cycling proficiency and received a certificate. Well done bikers!

Harvest Assembly
We all enjoyed the end of term harvest assembly today. Some of our class started with the 'Birsay Reel' - well done boys!
P3/4 shared their knowledge of germs and showed us how to wash our hands properly.
P3/4 harvested their tatties and carrots with Mr Fraser, they are planning to make soup with all their vegetables.
Sharing our learning
We invited p1/2 and p3/4 to visit our class to see what we had been learning about this term. We explained some of our learning in our World War 2 topic. We showed everyone our anderson shelters and explained how we worked together cooperatively to make them.

Evacuee letter writing
We have recently been learning about the layout of letters. We used our imagination and pretended we had been evacuated to the countryside. We then planned an imaginary letter describing the journey to our new home, describing the surroundings, our new family and our new schools. Last week we created old fashioned paper and today we started writing our final draft.

Scottish Book Trust - Drama workshop
We were fortunate enough today to have a visit from Kirsten who works with the Scottish Book Trust. We were involved in a workshop focussing on developing skills for shared reading.
We did some warm ups in the hall, using expressions and gestures. We also warmed up our listening skills as we had to listen very carefully!
