The past few weeks I have been doing division in maths we have just done long division and it is really easy when you know what to do. I have been using different strategies to do mental division we also are doing remainders and written methods, we are using are times tables too.

Mental multiplacation

In maths we were multiplying a two digit number by a single digit number. We were practicing to do it at the board and then doing a maths page in our text-book.
Here we are playing a game with a dice that you had to roll the dice 3 times. On the first two rolls (e.g.you roll a 6 and a 4 you write down 64, then roll 2 you do 64x2=128.)

Solids, Liquids and Gases

Our topic this term is Chemical Changes and we were looking at solids, liquids and gases and we were putting pieces of paper with solids, liquids and gases on them and putting them in the correct group. We were developing our understanding of solids, liquids and gases and their characteristics. (Andrew and Millie)

Reading Cafe Activities

We were learning to expand our understanding of different words. We were doing three different activities:  comprehension games, reading to our partners and asking them questions and reading comprehension cards.

Our Active Walk

We have been going a walk a few times a week. We try and do the walk for 15 minutes every time. Our circuit is around the old school and this school.  We all enjoy going on the walk and getting  fresh air. This is to do with our Health and Wellbeing and to use our fitness skills.

We took a break and looked over the wall and saw some seals.

This is us starting our first round.

Story writing

We have been learning about the structure of stories, focusing on having a beginning, middle and end. We chose an object from the bag in the class and had 10 minutes to create a story in our group. Mrs Drever was looking for a beginning, middle and end to our stories.

We were telling a story about the object that we picked.
Me ( Murray ) and Millie made a story about a pine cone.

Drew, Keiran and Rebekah were in a group and wrote
about a bear with a scarf.

We all shared our stories with the class then.

Christmas around the world

In these photos P6/7 were researching Christmas in other countries around the world. We learnt that they had different traditions than we have. We also developed our researching skills and working in a group.

I learnt that in Australia the climate is much different than ours and they have barbeques at the beach on boxing day. (Roman)

I learnt in China that they don't really celebrate Christmas and there was a prime minister that claimed to be Jesus`s brother then started a civil war. (Kieran)

I learnt that in Brazil they make a nativity scene out of clay and each figure is about 15cm tall. And that Santa is called Papai Noel. (Leeon)

Christmas Dinner

On the 11th of December we had a Christmas dinner with turkey, veg and stuffing. It was an enjoyable day, and the food was very tasty. For pudding was either Christmas pudding, fruit salad or meringue with cream (or without).
Here is a picture of us enjoying our lovely Christmas dinner, cooked by our nice school cooks.
We ate our tasty dinner, and sang along to Christmas songs. We were all feeling very festive!

p67 open day

We had an open day on our class last term about our topic, World War 2. We created a museum with artifacts
and shared our knowledge of what we had learned. We did some baking using war time recipes and served these to our visitors with a cup of tea or coffee. We held a quiz about WW2 and quizzed out parents and friends. Everyone had an enjoyable afternoon and we liked sharing our learning.

Our Concert, Cinderella Rockerfella :)

Last term our Christmas concert was Cinderella Rockerfella. We spent lots of time rehearsing and everyone did very well. These are some of the characters in costume on the night of the final performance. We all felt very excited and a little bit nervous, Afterwards we all felt proud of ourselves.
