Children In Need

Yesterday, we all learnt more about Children In Need. Some of us came dressed up to school. We went through to the hall and participated in a variety of stalls and competitions. Well done everyone for raising £304.39!

Our windy walk

We have been enjoying getting outside for a walk most days. We all benefit from getting outdoors as much as we can and always feel very refreshed! Our walk usually takes around 15 minutes - we all think it took a bit longer today in the strong breeze!

Properties of 3D shapes

Some of us today also learnt about different properties of 3D shapes. We used the terms faces, vertices and edges and identified the properties of each.

We then all split into teams and played a 3D shape quiz. We all worked together to identify the different shapes.

Circumference and diameter

Some of us have been learning about diameters and circumferences. We measured the diameter of each circle and used string to find the circumference. We discovered using the string gives an approximate measurement, we then used a formula to find accurate answers. We learnt about pi and used the formula C = 3.14  x D. We then rounded our answer to the nearest centimetre.

Remembrance Day

This term we have been learning about remembrance and why we remember. We also learnt about poppies and how they are a symbol of remembrance.
Today we went to p1/2 to share our learning and participate in the 2 minute silence. Afterwards we walked to the war memorial site in Finstown. It was a lovely day for a walk.

We spent some time reading the memorial and discussed what happens on Remembrance Sunday.
A peedie friend said hello on the way back to school! :)

P1/2 groups

On Tuesday we went to P1/2 and worked in small groups. We helped them use the laptops and looked at the blog, we talked them through how to print some photos.
Some of us showed them how to use the library computer to take books out. We read some stories to the p1/2 children. Everyone used fantastic reading voices, thinking about expression.
The final group used the outside area to lead games and activities. Well done everyone, fantastic peer learning!
We asked questions about their learning and the p1/2 class reflected on some of their learning experiences.

We asked our pairs some questions about the book too.

We made good use of the nursery area outside and had great fun! Everyone was excellent role models.
