Science Festival Workshops

On Monday, we participated in a Mars Rover Workshop. We learned about forces and gravity. The next part of the workshop focused on the Mars Rover and we all had the opportunity to work in the control room and directing the rover in a different area of the school, only using the controllers and smartboard. It proved to be quite challenging!

On Tuesday, we were invited to Stromness Academy for 'Disgusting Digestion.' We further developed our understanding of our digestion system. We all enjoyed watching the digestion experiment!

Gas Mask Boxes

We were set the challenge this week to draw a net of a cuboid to create our gas masks boxes. This prove to be quite challenging but we all followed the instructions carefully and were successful in making gas mask boxes. We all made sure our nets were accurate sizes, using rulers and protractors, checking the angles. We are all ready for an evacuation now!

Drama - Evacuation Scenes

In drama with Mrs Linklater, we have been creating freeze frames in small groups. We developed the skill of conveying different emotions and feelings in these scenes to convince our audience. In each group video, the children are in a scene 30 minutes before they arrived at the train station for the evacuation. Each group then decided on music to add to their scenes. Well done everyone!

Data Handling - Pie Charts

We have been collecting data and forming different charts. On Friday, we worked in pairs to create a pie chart on the laptops. We all followed instructions carefully - well done!

Tag Rugby

On Thursday, we went outside for some fresh air and had our first tag rugby session. We developed our team working skills and developed our passing skills. We enjoyed a peedie game at the end too!

Drama with Mrs Linklater

We have been develop a range of drama skills this term with Mrs Linklater. We have been learning to express different emotions and how to convey these to an audience. We have been acting out being evacuees moving to the countryside.

World War II - Timelines

We have been learning about key events from World War II. We worked together in small groups to put key events in chronological order. We had long timelines!
