Felting

Ryan brought in his felted dog he had made -  we all think it looks like his own dog! Thanks for sharing Ryan. :)

Equivalent fractions

Some of us have been learning about equivalent fractions. We played an equivalent fraction game and then we built equivalent fractions with the big building blocks. We then shared our understanding in our maths journals, including examples.

Conductors and insulators

Thermal conductors and thermal insulators
We carried out experiments to test thermal conductors and thermal insulators. We swapped around and tested both. First of all, one group tested goose fat as an insulator. We placed one finger in cold water with no goose fat, then we placed another finger in cold water  which was insulated. We all agreed that the goose fat kept our finger the warmest!

Another group tested thermal conductors using different spoons. We made predictions about which spoon would be the best conductor in hot water. We tested and predictions and discovered the metal spoon was the best conductor of heat.

Presenting

We recently presented out Holi Festival posters in our groups. We all came up with the success criteria for our presenting skills. Afterwards, we all gave feedback about how we presented and what we could still work on.

Reading CAFE

With Mrs Rendall, we were developing our reading comprehension skills and learning to spell words accurately. Some of us played a guessing game where we had to ask questions about the word to help us figure out what the word was. Another group played boggle and aimed to find the longest word. We also played reading comprehension games and answered questions from the reading comprehension cards.

Thermal conductivity

We carried out a practical investigation, learning about thermal insulation. We planned our experiment and discussed how to make it a fair test and wrote our predictions. We chose materials to insulate beakers of warm water. We placed a thermometer in each beaker and recorded the temperature every two minutes. We tested to see if our predictions were right!
Excellent team work everyone!
