The other week, some accordion players from the class were invited to nursery to play some Scottish tunes. The children in the nursery had a Scottish morning where they thoroughly enjoyed some music from the older children.

Author visit in Evie

Today we went to Evie for an author visit with Mike Nicholson. We learned about how he plans his stories and the length of time it takes to write a novel - one novel took 4 years to write! We all used our imagination to plan stories on the spot just from an object. We now have some of his books in the school library which some of us have began reading during our independent reading sessions.

Scots Poetry

Over the past week, we have been learning about Robert Burns and have explored some of his poetry. A particular poem we focused on was 'To A Mouse', we all read the poem and translated it to English. We also recognised poetic features within the poem. Following this, everyone then chose their own animal to plan a poem about. Everyone had poetry criteria to meet, where we all added rhyming to our poems and then translated them to Scots. We all had great fun creating our own tartans too!

Fitness Skills

This term, we all split in to small groups and were set the challenge to plan and design a fitness circuit. Each group planned their circuit and the resources they required. Some groups even thought about an easy and a hard version for their circuit. Each week, the children have been developing their fitness skills where they have been recording and reflecting on their progress.

Scottish dancing

At the end of last term, p3-7 enjoyed participating in some Scottish dancing. Here are a few video clips of everyone participating in strip the willow. We all had great fun!
