Victorian games

Within our Victorian topic, we have been learning about the different Victorian games and toys children played with. Today we experienced playing different Victorian games outside, we all really enjoyed ourselves.
We tried rolling the hoops as far as we could... it was quite challenging!

We soon got the hang of it!

We made our own hopscotch too

 We made really long hopscotches!
 We also played leap frog.

We worked well in our teams!

We all really enjoyed playing  the Victorian games!

Corrigall Farm Museum

We all enjoyed our trip to Corrigall Farm Museum where we experienced life on a Victorian farm.
We had a go at washing clothes with a wash board and soap...
... it was hard work!

 Carrying water.

 We found it quite heavy!
The wooden frame helped stop the water from spilling out.
We were shown how to make simmons.

We used one as a skipping rope...
... it was great fun!
Victorian costumes
 Making flour

 Grinding the oats.

Looking at the peats.
Looking at Victorian objects.
We learned about the weaving loom.
We tried to make drop scones but the fire wasn't hot enough!

Writing on slates

We practiced writing on slates using Victorian handwriting.
