French numbers
We have been learning lot's of different French phrases this term. We have also been learning the French numbers, this week we have been creating a number line in the class using written French numbers.
Weekly News Debate
We have been focusing on using listening and talking skills during our weekly news debate. We have been reflecting on the how well we took turns, the volume we used to speak, how clearly we spoke and if we used active listening.
At the end of each debate, we created 2 stars and a wish relating to these key listening and talking skills. Next term we are going to have a different listening and talking focus - we all really enjoyed the news debate and we discussed some interesting news articles.

Money in maths
This week we have been learning about money in class. We discussed the different uses for money and thought of different contexts in which money is used on a daily basis.
Some of us have been learning about credit cards. We discussed the risks and benefits to using credit cards, we then created a poster with balanced view points.
Some of us have also been thinking about different ways to make a certain amount - here we had to find different ways to make £5.
Another group were comparing different retailers by finding items on a shopping list... it was very interesting seeing which shop was the cheapest!
Who needs gocompare.com!?

Victorian Day
We held a Victorian Day at school where we all came dressed in Victorian clothing and participated in a Victorian school routine. Before entering the class Miss Grieve (Miss Threadbere) gave us all a penny and we had to pay for attending the school day. We sang a hymn in the morning and did some Victorian handwriting using our copybooks and slates. We also recited the alphabet and times tables. During the morning we had an inspection from the headmistress...
We also participated in an exercise drill and did some observational drawings. In the afternoon, we even tried some boiled sweets.

Children In Need 2013
We came to school dressed in costumes and we wore spots to raise money for Children In Need. There was a Pudsey dance and lot's of different stalls and competitions - we raised a total of £260! (Still counting!)
Some of the p5/6/7 in their costumes and spots!
Some spots and costumes.
Onesies and pj's were popular!
Spots....
...and more!
Our costumes were judged by the cooks...
... it was a tough decision!
Well done!
Some of us did face painting.
Miss Gray got her nails painted!
There was a colouring competition.
Spotty ladies!
We had a baking stall too.
We were selling Children In Need merchandise too... it was popular!
Afterwards, we estimated how much money we made....
.... we worked in small groups to count it.
We double checked it too.
Well done everyone for raising so much for Children In Need!
